Tried a search but its broken, so apologies if there's another Lync thread i've not spotted.

 

Anyone else installed (or upgraded from OCS)?

We had a small pilot running last year which worked well, and integrated enterprise voice over the summer.

So much simpler to use than the old meridian/nortal system we had.

 

The head perfromed a job interview with an applicant in Spain and it worked well. Vocemail/UM features working well.

Federation is a doddle and works really well.

 

I dont think I could go back to using a standard 'old style' phone system.

For staff its included in the ees agreement.

if you go enterprise voice, you need to add that as a plus cal (ours was £4.06 per staff member)

 

If we move pupils to office 365 we dont have to pay for their exchange external access and we could offer them lync at 0 cost (have staff onsite, pupils offsite)

new Lync clients for WM and android are very slick. Just waiting on iPhone, iPad, Nokia symbian and BBerry clients.

No VOIP or video (yet?) but very slick.

OCS wasnt a PBX replacement. Lync is.

We've been running it for almost a year now (summer '11 install). The feature that high on the 'what do i need that for' list, was presence. Now when you ask staff what they like most, you guessed it, is presence!
