Giveaway Old Promethean Boards

We have just had some new Promethean Boards installed and as there is nothing much wrong with the old ones were wondering if it would be possible to donate these to other local schools or would that be a big NO NO from a licensing point of view?

Some advice would be appreciated.

There shouldn't be any issues in terms of licensing on the boards, however, the warranty status - if there is any remaining - on the boards may cause an issue, as the boards would need to be moved to the new site. That said, they are pretty robust, and so if they work ok now, there is no reason to suggest that the "move" would cause an issue.

 

If however, a warranty claim was to happen in the future, you may struggle because the warranty on the boards would be with yourselves, and not the new owners - also, the boards would have had to have be moved from one site to another which may cause damage to the systems.

 

Hopefully though, the new boards will be fine in the new school!

Thanks for the reply : There is no warranty left on the boards as they are about 6 years old. If we give them to another school (bearing in mind we are in Germany) would the other school then be able to download the drivers and software without issue from your website?

The drivers are not a problem - freely available from the support section on Promethean Planet - Interactive Teacher Community, Interactive Whiteboard Lessons and Resources, Online Lesson Plans, Teaching Resources - Promethean Planet. With regard to the software, the school can also download and install ActivInspire from Promethean planet too, and obtain a cd key for the professional version by entering the serial number of the ActivBoard on the ActivInspire download page.

 

One thing I have been asked, is if you would be able to PM me the school details so we have a record of them at our end.

Thanks for the reply - nothing has been decided yet. I was just asked to see if it would be feasible from a Licensing point of view. The schools may not even want them as they would still have to purchase their own Projectors.
