hfnistelrooy Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 We have just recently installed Sophos Enterprise Console 4.7 on the server and have been pushing the clients onto the Windows XP machines with no problems. However when trying to push the sophos client (9.7) onto Windows 7 workstations it is failing with an error "Sophos was cancelled as 3rd party software was detected and could not be uninstalled" HOWEVER this is a brand new build with no other antivirus installed... rebuilt 2 laptops and the same thing... anyone have the same issue?
ihaveaproblem Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 Cant help with the problem. Have you emailed sophos support? In the past for me they've always provided a very good and fast support so it might be worth shooting off an email to them if you havent already.
markcuk Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 (edited) found this (Windows install) In the installing users local profile folder C:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temp .... look for a file named avremove.log open in a text editor, jump to the bottom, will state found x removed y products. Then scroll up, looking for the one(s) it could not remove. try this to http://www.ghacks.net/2009/04/29/antivirus-software-uninstaller-appremover/ Edited September 2, 2011 by markcuk
denon101 Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 Not sure if this is related, but when I first tried to install sophos 9.7 from the enterprise console I could not get it to install. Turns out that the need to set the remote registry service to automatic, as it set as manual. As soon as I enbled that it worked fine. Hope that is some help
Tallwood_6 Posted September 2, 2011 Report Posted September 2, 2011 Yes I believe you nee to set remote registry to automatic and turn off UAC on the windows 7 machines to deploy via enterprise console.
denon101 Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 I did not need to switch the UAC off. Just enabled the remote registry service and off I went!
hfnistelrooy Posted September 5, 2011 Author Report Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) I did not need to switch the UAC off. Just enabled the remote registry service and off I went! Had a look on the workstation and the Remote Registry service is already set to Automatic... im going to build a clean workstation and see if it is a package which is causing the problem Edited September 5, 2011 by hfnistelrooy
hfnistelrooy Posted September 8, 2011 Author Report Posted September 8, 2011 Got it working via a workaround, you can manually run the setup.exe from the SophosUpdate share and it adds the computer into the enterprise console
