I am having a problem with our mandatory student profile on Windows 7 whereby when a student logs on to the machine the pinned taskbar shortcuts are unavailable (see attachments). These shortcuts are the Windows default (IE9, Library, Media Player) and point to the usual places but still the user cannot access them.

I was leaning towards a permission issue but wasn't sure where to start.

Anybody seen this problem before and can point me in the right direction?

Many thanks,

Thanks for the reply.

We don't use redirected start menus, however, I have managed to dig a bit deeper and found the cause of the issue. The mandatory profile that we have stores the shortcuts in AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\StartMenu. Now if I have a look at one of the users redirected application data this location doesn't exist (hence the shortcuts not working). I manually created the the folders that were missing (User Pinned\StartMenu) and copied the shortcuts in there and it works.

I am pretty sure there is something really simple I am doing wrong but can't seem to figure it out. A last resort I suppose would be to script it?

Many thanks.
