I have just started working in a school and they use SIMS. One teacher has tried to open SIMS as usual on their computer but gets a SIMSLoad.exe error message. What can I do to help him load into SIMS???

what is the error message?

 

Do you get support for SIMS from your LA? if so they should be able to help.

 

As a workaround get the teacher to try running the pulsar.exe from the sims .net folder

Have a look in your Windows folder, find and open the file called SIMS.INI.

There's a setting in the file called SIMSSetupsDirectory.

Look at where this points, then browse to that location.

From there, run the program SIMSApplicationSetup.exe

This is quite likely to fix the problem.

It's worth checking in C:\Program Files\sims\sims .net\ for the simsload.exe file sometimes during an upgrade it could disappear or be renamed to .old , A quick fix would be to copy a version of that file from another machine to that location and try again. Though if there is a risk files are mucked up, rerunning the setup is probably a safe bet too.

IMO, log onto the machine as administrator, then try running SIMS, if it still errors, try Jinnantonnixx solution,

I'm getting one or two of these as well. Installed as Administrator and worked OK. Staff member logs in and the SIMSLOAD.exe errors out. I just reinstalled the SIMSApplicationSetup.exe whilst logged on as the Staff Member and it works fine. Probably a permissions glitch.

Permission to write to the local SIMS folders no doubt, as it updates the .ini files after an update.
