Does anyone know where there is a site I can check my sons exam result to see if he has passed I cannot make head or tail of them ?

Generally exam results aren't released publically (or at least not from my experience), I know they will release them a little down the line, but it's no different to the data given to you by the sheet your son received.

 

Is there something specific on it you're confused about?

I am confused as there is numbers and letters in the results column eg gcse English result 0080E ?

It depends on the exact course, and exam board. But for example, say its AQA and English Lit, It does on it on a 200 UMS point scale:

 

English Literature GCSE

 

4712 Full Course 200 UMS A*(180) A(160) B(140) C(120) D(100) E(80) F(60) G(40)

 

So if for example he did the AQA English Lit exam, he'd have an E grade from 80 points (aka 40%)

 

Do you know what exam board/exam number he did?

CMIS is just the database that shows/lists results, Not the exam they took. You should have all the information on the exams taken, and board information from the entry forms.

There are various bords listed as he has done different exams due to being in special needs education . Is there a way of me scanning and posting would this help if I could ?

My understanding is that the capital letter at the end of the numbers is the grade but I can't be certain.

Under that sheet,

 

English was Edexcel Full Course 2731, 0080 is Grade E

Maths was OCR F512J, Grade G

In terms of "Passes" it depends how the college counts it, Generally A-C are 1st Passes, D-G 2nd Passes. But still "passes", unless the college looks at it differently. (Some take below C as fails in term of "passing" or not)

Ok you son has the following grades (I am a Serco School and produce these reports with our Exams Officer for our school so I know what you mean about confusing were reviewing how we lay them out for next year as there is too many bits of info for people to understand).

 

The Type column codes are C = Certificate IE Final end result and U = Unit - these are the individual papers / module that make up the Certification. Capita Letters are full results / certificated results and lower case are the results for that paper.

 

Your son has got:

 

GCSE English at grade E

GCSE Art and Design at grade E

BTEC L2 Sport with a Pass

GCSE History at grade G

GCSE Maths Foundation at grade G

 

I am not familiar with the Qualification EL however or the 3,3,2 results for them I'm afraid we don't do that qualification

 

To help anyone else these are the headers:

 

Board = Exam Board Code

Year = Year exam taken

Opt = Option Code for the exam taken

Option = Name of Exam / Paper taken

Qual = Type of Qualification EG GCSE, AS Level etc

Level = Level within the Qualification EG FC = Full Course, SC = Short Course

Type = Result Type EG C = Certificated, U = Unit

Result = Result for that exam, the numbers will be overall marks thus 0080E is 80 Marks worth an E Grade. The capital letter signifies a certified result thus that is what colleges etc want to know.

Thank you all for your help , he will have to contact the college after the Bank Holiday to review his options . On a brighter note he passed his BTEC which is an acheivement :-)
