HP TouchPad

I was after a bit of feedback really on the HP Touchpad.

 

I am looking into the possibility of purchasing one and I am well aware of the other choices on the market such as the iPad2 or the Blackberry Playbook etc, etc (having tested most of them through work)

 

Do any Edugeekers have one and if so how are they getting on with it. Can anyone shine a bit of light on this for me and highlight any plus/negative points and any limitations if any?

 

My temptation started when I was reading about the new HP Smartphone which will work with the Touchpad the same (if not better apparently) than the iPhone and iPad interface. Mmmmmmmm!

My other half works for HP and has warned me off the HP Touchpad .... they have given high level UK staff the opportunity to take one home and use and the feedback has been that poor that she didnt even bother completing the requisition forms for hers.

I am not interested in the HP TouchPad as I have no use for a tablet device at the moment, but are you able to maybe state some specific reasons as to why your other half dislikes the device..

The Asus is okay actually I have tried and tested it.

 

So would that be your recommendation MK-2?

 

Does the ipad2 still pip everything else available and if so is it more to do with the apps available or is it the actual pad itself?

I bought the Epad with the transformer keyboard and it has replaced my eeepc as it does all i need.

i believe it pips the ipad2, as the ipad2 was really just a slightly beefed up ipad1.

 

Personally I would recommend the EEEPad as its very robust. I did have a slight issue with the touchscreen locking up, but only after I'd flashed a custom rom, not if its used in all its stock.

As far as i can remember she was saying that it is heavy compared to the other offerings available, but in spite of this it feels hollow. There are rough edges around the tweeters, there is a shortage of available apps, no rear facing camera and it has a long boot time. Even the HP employees feel that the Ipad 2 or Galaxy tab represents better value for money (in light of the fact that many of them have these tablets at home already)
