Hi,

I need to find a S7000 admin with more than 500 CIFS users. What is the experience with S7000 CIFS? Next week I must do a decision between S7420 and Netapp3240. Who can help?

It's my first post, so I can't answer private!

Ummm from what I have heard unless your support budget has a huge amount of room to pay for an Oracle support contract then you really want anything else.

I use a Netapp 2050 cluster and i'm unhappy about the performance. I also use a Sun 7110 as NFS ESXi Storage. You can't compare it. The S7110 is about 7 to 10 times faster in MB/s and about 4 times faster in IOPS. My problem is, that I can't use the S7110 as CIFS Storage.

We look for a better CIFS storage like Sun7420 or Netapp 3240, but I can't compare it. What I know is, Netapp every time uses less memory, old CPU, small CPU in their system. I prefer Sun, but I do not know how good CIFS work?

I have a Sun 7110 and an Oracle 7120 but do CIFS shares for my network, we have around 500 users on the network, all with roaming profiles. They also do NFS shares at the same time the boxes.

They perform acceptibly when working well, I've had numerous issues of late with my hardware to a point where I no longer would recommend them to anyone. They do have a large following of people on here however so its well worth searching S7000 on here and looking at the various threads and users to see what they have to say.

Mine were great till they started playing up.
