Windows 7 profile issue

We have set up folder redirections for My Documents etc and users have roaming profiles

 

However this is what they can see:

 

 

Any ideas? The folders seem to let them access the C:\ drive locations rather than redirect to the correct server based locations and in some cases there are duplicates! (One for the local one for the server)

 

As our users will get confused very easily.

In group policy when you de-direct the documents folder, make sure all the check boxes on the second tab are all unticket. I had this until i did that.

I have got round this by removing this folder from the users environment and creating a shortcut on the desktop.

 

Have a look at this thread http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/78302-windows-7-roaming-profile-problem.html. I had the exact same problem. Also, i found that i had to turn off access based enurmeration on the server as the users couldnt save to their userarea and the folders werent been mapped

All the boxes are unticked. I think it is set to 'Create a folder for each user at the following path' setting if that affects it in any way?

 

I will have a look at the thread suggested tomorrow when I'm sat at my desk thanks.

You need me make sure that the middle box out the the 3 is ticked, cant remember what it is off the top of my head.

Personally i dont tend to use that as it moves all the junk like the sample clips etc.

You were right, had to turn that option on. Pretty stupid 'design' but who am I kidding, this is Microsoft!

Although another smaller problem, even though 'Downloads' is set to follow the Documents folder redirection no 'Downloads' folder is created on the network area and that still points to C:\?

sometimes you can get troubles if the profiles are stored on a CIF or NetApp or any other unix based storage. If you store the profiles on a windows 2008 r2 server you might not have the problem anymore.

So Microsoft is saying you have to have that setting turned on? Who designs this stuff?!

Interesting is this in your testing of the products? I have all my users profiles and documents on a CIF share off a Solaris system and its fairly good.
