aerospacemango Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 BBC News - Internet Explorer story was bogus Looks like an elaborate hoax, that was good enough to suck a lot of people, and media outlets, in!
DJ-Jonesy Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Thats only becuase the head editor of the BBC uses IE...... Enough said...
mthomas08 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Not surprised Now where are those who said IE users ARE Thickos! Let me at em! Let me at em!
SpuffMonkey Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 As an Opera user, I reckon the hoax warning is a hoax...
synaesthesia Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 It's very believable as it's almost certainly true to some extent. Not because of intent; less, shall we say savvy people, will be far less inclined to stray from the path of what's already on their computer and won't be installing Firefox/Opera etc, as opposed to someone who is either more savvy, curious or willing to find out what's best for them. It really wouldn't surprise me if it's not a hoax, regardless of the age of the site etc; they've just been quickly hushed/debunked for the sake of a popular browser's standings. Not the first time that sort of thing has occurred! Hmm. Wonder where the line is between naivety and cynicism is.

That reminds me, the front office just called for you, they said could you pop out to the sports field as there's a man in a black helicopter here to see you.
