SimpleSi Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Can anyone personally recommend a working solution to streaming Xvid avis to an IPad over a wifi connection? I've been doing this sucessfully using Serviio as as DLNA server and my HTC Desire running UPnPlay as a client with Rockplayer as the rendering device. All the free IPad apps I've tried won't play Xvids but some promise to do so if I buy them but I'd like a personal recommendation first Si
Norphy Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 It's not DLNA but I would suggest Plex (Plex - A Complete Media Solution). A media server sits on your PC or Mac and it can stream video to an iOS application which costs less than a fiver, iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch included. There's an Android app as well. I use a version on my AppleTV, it works brilliantly well. It's streamed H264, DivX and Xvid videos for me without any issue. I've tried uPNP clients but I've found this works the best. 1
SimpleSi Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 I'd like to stick with DLNA (as its a standard) if possible as I've already got a DLAN server, a DLNA blu-ray player as my playback client for the living room and UPnPlay/Rockplayer combo as my 'droid client. regards Simon
