dagza Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 I am exploring podcasting with a group of kids and need some advice. Some of this is not specifically mac related but I didn't want to split the post Ok, some contributions will be made via people using windows as .wav files and I was wondering what the best lossless format for the mac is. The podcasts will be completely pre-recorded IYSWIM so we will be using audacity or garageband or both to import and mix the contributions so will this alter you answer to the above paragraph? I also briefly saw some reference to using MP4 instead of MP3 file format for the podcast due to licensing issues with MP3 :? . I was intending to use MP3 but am open to persuasion. Thanks! Darren
russdev Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 i would for now use mp3 as that is what is most podcast clients use i think license issue comes when devloping software for podcasting. save the draft in what ever format software you are using is then convert to mp3 when done.. Russ

Is it just me or is the tellietubby NOT funny I also got a response from the show regarding the equipment they used in the vid: http://www.solidstatesound.co.uk/maycom-mp3-kit.htm I am using audcacity at the moment as kids are using macs in school and PCs at home. Downloaded a demo of megaseg - http://www.megaseg.com/ - which Adam Curry uses so the kids liked that and either that or garageband may be a contender for the future (when I work out how to record audio in the thing!) There's a thought (drifting off macs), Adam Curry plays mixes of different songs / artists. I thought that would be illegal :?

So come one darren what podcasts do you listen to then lets have them my best tip is in the trenches that is brill for sys admins like us...
