[android] HTC not connecting to WiFi network

I've got a strange issue with my HTC wildfire (standard HTC 2.2.1 f/w) where it will try to connect to my home network, but fails. It has worked fine up until now, but now it just gets it self stuck in a loop (connecting to network > authenticating to network > obtaining IP from network > disconnected). All other devices work fine (ipods, laptops and games consoles).

 

I have tried two different brands of router/WAPs (netgear dg834gv5 and some ancient belkin) with varying levels of security from unsecured networks to WPA and WPA/WPA2 secured networks. Wifi channels have been changed without success.

 

I've even reset the spare DG834Gv5 i have to it's default settings without any luck.

 

Is there anything else I can try before sending it for repair?

Is the when you hit forget in the connection properties? If it is, then I've already tried that without success.

delete the entry on the phone and remove the DHCP entry on your router at home

I've just done that, but still no luck though. Thanks for the suggestion.

 

Next step is a factory reset. Lets hope that works.

The factory restore seems to have done the trick for now.
