PICNIC Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Has anyone managed to get the Network Client version of this to work in Win7? we have it on a suite of XP machines but I cant get it to install properly on the teachers new Win 7 laptop. The installation runs through ok but it doesnt see the server in the final step, though i can see it in network on the laptop. I have tried installing in compatibility mode but same problem. Thanks Jon
Vine Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Almost a year later: Does anyone have any more information on this?
PICNIC Posted July 2, 2012 Author Posted July 2, 2012 Basically no! we got one of our German teachers to ring them in the end as they are impossible to contact any other way. There is an upgrade available but you need to be given access to it after registering on their site and we just couldn't get it sorted. In the end we decided to buy the new version (which apparently does work in Win7 but I cant verify that) but couldn't even do that as they only accept bank transfers.
meastaugh1 Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 (edited) We bought the upgrade when it was released and finally received the upgrade link mid-June. Although they only accept bank transfers, it is a UK bank account. The sketch application seems ok so far, but I'm still tweaking the paint installer to stop it crashing when a standard user launches it. Installers are MSI format this time. They do respond to email, although it may take them a day or two. Edited July 2, 2012 by meastaugh1
kennysarmy Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Just installed this on a test PC before we roll out to more... They sent: School Version & Teacher Version The School Version contains installations for the Server and then associated Client component. I've put the Server part on one of our Servers and the Client part on the test PC. The software seems to work as it should, ie opens without licence issues. The Teacher version does not contain a Server/Client installation but just one file called "StudentTrainer.msi" - if I install this it breaks the previous install. I am presuming therefore that this is for off-site use and needs to be registered by each individual? If anyone can clarify that would be great. I've tried to mail their support people, but they are slow to respond and don't seem to grasp the issue....
