stebo730 Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 I have a new Dell Poweredge R510 that I want to set up as our Main File Server. I have a 2 x 300GB which I want to sent up as RAID 1 (this is done no problem) and 6 x 600GB set up as RAID 5. I have a PERC 6/i RAID Controller installed and installed Windows 2008 R2 with SP1. Everything seems ok until I log into Windows after the OS install and on th RAID 5 it is split showing the first 2TB and a 743 GB Partition. I can do whatever I need to do with the 2Tb but the 743GB is totally unuseable. Is there a way to get the 743GB recognized properly and useable? I also have the options to go RAID 6, 10 and 50 but have never used these RAID Setups before and am unsure. Any help would be appreciated.
teejay Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Use server manager, storage right click on disk and select convert the disk to GPT. 1
sted Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 is there a bios update for the raid card as ive had 4tb drives show up on 08r2 sp1 (granted they died after a reboot but thats because the raid web interface for my card allowed me to setup raid 10 but the contoler diddnt actually support it) that was 4 2tb drives in raid 10
