dgsmith Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 A teacher wants a very basic site created so I said i'd create one quickly so they have an idea of what it'd look like. I just need to find a free host (even if 30days) that'll auto create a joomla install and that I don't need to wait weeks for! So far from a google search, I have found hosts that don't email authorisation, claim to be free but direct to a non-free host or only offer 35MB of space which is useless!
speckytecky Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Why not run one up on Localhost then if you install Akeeba with it you should have the option to Kickstart it to the destination web host?
SimpleSi Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Maybe invest in yourself with some cheap domain name/monthly hosting and charge the teacher a few quid to offset? I use one.com. Simon
rush_tech Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 You could use cloudaccess.net that joomla offers thats free for 30 days 1
soveryapt Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 WAMP / LAMP (depending on your desktop preference) would allow you to set up a site and show them what it's all about. Joomla's not too hard to install from script (that I remember) ..
dgsmith Posted July 1, 2011 Author Report Posted July 1, 2011 Thanks for the replies - ideally i'd have found a host that allows for an upgrade to a paid service if all is well (and cheap at that). In the interim I have chosen to set it up on our internal intranet box, though if all is well i'd still be looking for a more permenant host for her. As specky said I guess i'd have to use akeeba with this approach.
