how to remove the US english language from Word

having tried every solution i can find on internet i am stuck with this one

Us english still appears as default language even though its not set in regional settings anywere, or in office 2007 langauge settings.

 

Teachers going mad as trying to wright reports and it defaults to US english.

 

Is there a registry key to remove it altogether , how hard can they make this is my question

 

any help would be gratefully recieved

This is all to do with the normal.dot template that word uses when it starts. Unfortunately I don't think there is a global solution unless you have the group policy templates installed. Open a blank document and type something that spelt wrong then right click on the word and select language and set proofing language. Then you can pick English UK as the default and tell it to apply to all template created from normal.dot.

 

If you are using a report template then just do the same with that

Modify the default template (normal.dot) or failing that fix the report template.

 

Our lot manage to introduce US language every so often when they fiddle with a report template.

I've just had a look in the group policy setting and that option isn't in there as far as I can see but you can force it to automatically detect the language which works if you have windows install with all UK locales
