CatherineMay Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Have anyone made your own instructions for lesson monitor who would share with me, too many things in the Capita sheets for my teachers to cope with? Please, Thanks.
PhilNeal Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I assume you've seen our Quick Reference Sheets. Can't say we get too many complaints about teachers not being able to use LM.
CatherineMay Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 Hi Phil, Yes I have given the quick reference sheets to all staff, too much info for some of them. Some want a sheet: click here and do this!!
jcollings Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 This was what I gave our staffcomplete AM,PM or Lesson Register.doc 1
CatherineMay Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 Thanks a lot, I know I am being lazy not doing my mine, but time is short.
vikpaw Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 For new staff i run a short inset just before school starts. I find that a practical example where they are in a computer lab is much more beneficial and aids their learning. There are still the luddites that need a crib sheet though. 1
vikpaw Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) I also have some short videos that i made with Macromedia captivate, but similar could be done in Wink. I don't have one for lesson monitor, but i did find an executable flash file that i must have downloaded from the Capita website. It's called lesson_monitor.exe around 5MB so a bit large to post here really. See if you can find that, it's really useful and goes through all the features, not just the basics, but you could just show part of the video. I find that having little snippets of video like that are great as a user can lookup the info they need in their own time without being embarassed to log an incident on the helpdesk or admit they've forgotten something. If you can't find it, and a capita bod can't point to it, i can upload it somewhere for you. It's mostly a sales thing, so has all the features, but is very nice. CatherineMay Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 Thanks Vikpaw, thats is really nice. Would you please upload it for you.
vikpaw Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Here's a link to various help and training documents for SIMS. https://skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?cid=2db6d6662545bc3e&resid=2DB6D6662545BC3E!117 The one i mentioned was lesson_monitor.exe that runs as a flash video. Also, i didn't think, i had one but there is a large Word booklet which i inherited when i arrived, which i think steals a lot from the Lesson Monitor manual but goes step by step through the tasks as well, so you could edit that down if you wished. It's large though, around 90MB. It's also a bit out of date, so the method for adding behaviour is old and doesn't show the right click function, it wont cover tabbed marksheets either. We tend not to use them much now, so they are not maintained. Hope something is useful there. 1
CatherineMay Posted June 26, 2011 Author Posted June 26, 2011 Thanks, I am sure that I can used them.
