Dos_Box Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 (edited) I just spent the day with my family at the Wirral International Kite Festival, and I have to say it was totally awesome!! If you look at the picture below you will get an idea of the size of kits flying here if check out the dog kit anchored to the BMW 4x4 in the background! All of the things you see flying are kites BTW, not balloons. I am very, very impressed with kite makers now http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5149/5821874969_5fd4f90222.jpg You can see more of these here: Edited to add another pic that gives a sense of scale to the festival. That blue teddy is about 5 meters long BTW! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3275/5821920089_d6489d10b1.jpg Edited June 12, 2011 by Dos_Box 2

Dos_Box Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 It's a great free family day out. The kids were mesmerised by it all (TBH, so was I!) and with so many huge kits being put up and coming down all the time, the 4 hours we spent there just flew by. If there is a kits festival in your area I highly recommend you go and take a look. It's all very tranquil as well. It's like an airshow wothout the noise!
