bodminman Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Hi there, we are finding that when machines are switched on in th emorning, the HDD Read/Writes are going through the roof and when I check the Avg. Disk Queue Length in Perfomance it sticks at 100% for anything up to 20-30 minutes. This is happening right across the site and so includes high spec PCs and lower ones too! Any ideas? - Currently running Trend Micro Housecall on a machine at the moment to see if it picks up anything. Thanks in antisipation!
jamesreedersmith Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Is it your normal AV doing a scheduled scan that needs doing?
bodminman Posted June 10, 2011 Author Posted June 10, 2011 Normally we have the awful RMVP4 doing a scheduled scan at 12.30. I'm just checking to make sure it's not set to do one at startup too! I've just taken over the reigns here so am just finding things out!
Admiral208 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 disable all start up programs in msconfig and check again. enable them one at a time to see what is causing the problem.
pseu Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Would the AV be causing write queues? I assume you are actually seeing a degradation of performance, otherwise you would not have noticed right? Any idea how long this has been happening for?
