jdoyle Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 has anyone else experience of using the Pearson Learning Gateway in conjunction with their VLE?
graywoodford Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Just saw this thread, ive been looking in to it and speaking with them about it. What are you trying to do with it?
graywoodford Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Just some information to let you know where I am at with it. We run a Frog VLE in school, and had signed up to the website, put in the codes for our software and then as they had said shared out the link from the webpage and put it on the vle. Then if any one clicked it you would get only a 2 minute preview of the software? not what i expected. If you are logged in to the site its fine. Called them and they said that the gateway is for staff only as students using it is breaking the terms and conditions, there is no scorm packs for these to put in your own vle either! Some schools create a student account and get the pupils to log in and use it that way but they will have access to order anything they want to the school, which we do not want to do. So for us now I have just told the teachers that it is a staff only area and they have to create their own accounts for it and not to allow students on to it. Why you cant just embed in to the vle is beyond me but Pearson dont want you to do it at all. Hope this helps dude
Ashm Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 We had this problem too with some recent ActiveTeach software we purchased. All the existing ActiveTeach software we have has SCORM content that we can use on our VLE. But they seem to have stopped including SCORM content recently. It may be due to them launching their Active Learn online resource.
graywoodford Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 I can see this is going to a pain for a lot of people, they could sort it out if they wanted to
jdoyle Posted June 13, 2012 Author Posted June 13, 2012 Pearson own Fronter so I half expected them to be working together to make it all a seamless solution. Far from it. I rate the solution 0/10 and the support from Pearson even lower.
