localzuk Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Can anyone give me a rough idea of what 160 XenDesktop VDI licenses would likely cost us? I've seen £200 per license mentioned, which would be ridiculous. I've also seen it in USD at about $75 per license, which if translated over here would be about £50 a license (and much more reasonable). So, can anyone help, to save me waiting for a quote?
Soulfish Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I know Citrix offer a campus agreement with a minimum order of 1,000 FTE at approximately £13/FTE/yr for XD Enterprise, £6/FTE/yr for XD VDI and £19/FTE/yr for XD Platinum. Last year I was getting quotes for around £31/£73/£115 for the VDI/Enterprise/Platinum versions of XenDesktop based on per device or per user pricing but I haven't got any pricing for the new concurrent licensing model for XenDesktop.
localzuk Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 We'd be looking at the per device licensing, so that's a big help. Thanks!

VirtualTal Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Hi there, Tal from Citrix here. I'm not allowed to talk about pricing because of the terms of this board, but I just wanted to chime in and mention that Soulfish's pricing is correct and up to date. -Tal
johnnybb2000 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Hi, Not sure if anyone is monitoring this thread however, I have implemented XenApp with NetScaler and wanted to publish a desktop to enable shortcut on desktop type access to MS Access Databases which users insist on using. After reading up it is apparent the publish desktop option is not secure enough for my environment and to do this it looks like I need to purchase the XenDesktop module. I currently have 2 NetScalers for redundancy and 1 XenApp Virtual Server and a Management VM. I have bag for resource available to increase the 2008 R2 VM Server and could create more VM's to increase servers for load balancing. I have 20GB infrastructure and 1GB to the Desktop. I only need to support 50 users with a Desktop with 3 shortcuts to these (vile) DB's and wonder - and appreciate this is a wide open question - Can anyone provide a little assistance by way of a technical approach and if I need to supplement resources to support - assuming my XenDesktop thoughts are correct. The VM for XenApp has 8 CPU's and 64GB RAM I think from memory. Any help would be gratefully received. Kind Regards, JOhn
MatthewL Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Although not fully up on Citrix I am sure you can publish the database as an application and it launches it like you do off the desktop. You will need to have a XenApp server, we have a few access databases we publish on Citrix for ease but can be a pain at times. Hope this helps.
johnnybb2000 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Thanks for response. So I can publish the DB as an app then? Would it have to be relocated? The DB's are in use by a large number of thick clients on the LAN and we are using CITRIX (XenApp 6.0) for WAN users. If we can publish maintaining location, can we also publish Web based application shortcuts too? I have one of those which I need to publish too. Thanks again. John
