SKY BB DIED THIS MORNING AT 06:45 RIP:

"Live Issue: Broadband Service interruption

Sky Broadband

We are aware that some Sky Broadband customers are continuing to experience issues with their Sky Broadband Connection. We believe that the issue is connected to this morning’s outage and we are working to resolve the problem as soon as possible.

Please don’t turn your router off then on again as this may increase the amount of time that you are without Sky Broadband connection.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide any more detail at the moment about when service will be fully restored, but we are treating this as top priority and will continue to post regular updates until service is back up and running for all customers.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Outage start time: 06 Jun 2011 - 06:45"

MUPPETS. SOMEBODY BUY THEM A NEW HAMSTER.

The beef is, they suck at Internet Service Providings don't they...

Case in point: I know a consumer, who switched from BT to Sky Broadband in order to get a better deal by buying all services from one supplier - made sense to me and I supported their decision. Now I'm a cable bb customer I must admit but as far as I'm aware, Sky actually provide (A)DSL service down BT backbone/ infrastructure - so how it happened that on Sky, they would be getting 0.1 megabits down and 0.4 up all the time was beyond me.. That's not even "broad" band!! So they're switching to their local cable provider.

If you're a happy SKY BB customer then you're one of the lucky ones. In darkest Warwickshire it's pants. At the beginning of the month for the last fours months we have had without fail a day's outage with no explanation and I guess without any real idea what the problem is.

I'm on Sky Broadband at this very moment. Massive improvement on BT and no interruption to service today according to husband who'e been working from home.

People always complain about TalkTalk as well. Since taking their broadband over 4 years ago, I think it's been down twice for less then a day. Not bad IMO.

Plus a 12Mbps connection with them is spot on. :)

Sky BB is absolute carp for me - fair enough it's rarely down, but I'd rather have the odd days down time and decent speed than have a constantly slow connection! I'm lucky to hit 2mbps, and I'm paying for a 10mbps connection (have to because of download limits), despite the fact the exchange is at the end of my (rather short) street and the flat I live in was built about 6 years ago, so in theory I should have the fastest possible connection!

I miss my Virgin fibre connection, averaged about 2 half days a year down but at least I actually got the 10mbps that I paid for!

With Sky BB it also depends if you're getting it through the normal BT exchange connection, or if Sky have LLU kit in the exchange. I switched from Virgin (DSL) to Sky LLU about 6 months ago and have never looked back - not a single outage (save this morning), double the speed, no ridiculous throatling, and £5 cheaper. A no brainer for me.

I've had Sky BB since September and it's never gone down. Never had to reboot the router. I don't know if it's down for me as I've been at work all day.

Virgin Media never went down in the year I had it either.

I found that with the router Sky sent me, I was having to reboot it every week at best, quite often every other day, as speeds just got ridiculously slow until I did so. I've since put my own router in and it's been much better, although that in itself was a pain as Sky like to hide your username and password from you to prevent you doing this; why?! I'm paying for the connection, why should I be "forced" to use the piece of carp router they send me?!

My speed is at a constant 4.5Mbps which is the maximum for the flats I'm in. It's a lot slower than the 20Mb Virgin connection I was on before but is still fine for Battlefield/HD Streaming
