rocknrollstar Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Hi, I own a domain and have a hosting account account with that domain. I have have Google Apps associated with that domain. I don't really want the hosting account (I don't need a website), I only want the domain with the google apps. Can I get rid of the domain, and if so, will google apps still run fine? I will just need a link on my other website to get to the google apps login page. Thanks in advance.
FN-GM Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 How do you mean get rid of it? Is google the domain registrar? 1
rocknrollstar Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 No, Google isn't the domain registrar. Basically I only want google apps- not the hosting account. I own the domain, and also have a hosting account with the domain.
CyberNerd Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 you could have http://www.sitename.com point to any web server and still have google.sitename.com point to your google
rocknrollstar Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 Great, thanks for your help. I've contacted my domain registrar and hosting supplier, who has sorted it out. As you've all suggested, this is possible as long as you have the ability to change some dns settings (or the registrar company can do it for you).
Nick_Parker Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Just so long as you can still adjust the DNS setting somehow so as to point the MX records to Google otherwise mail won't be delivered. 1
