This morning I made some changes to the user>windows>security>additional and added a path rule for \\servername\students$*.bat.

For some dumb reason I did this on the live student accounts rather then testing on a test area 1st  Well sure it stopped the scripts running but also stopped students loading any programs including all .exes :D it was amusing when I first heared and I removed the path rule straight away and forced gpupdate.

Well it seems around 80% of the schools computers are ok again but some are having problems as they dont appear to of updated their policy having asked everyone to log off and on again too. Is there any way of ensuring all computers are updated asap other then force?

Thanks :D

you probably want to use PSexec to call gpupdate remotely on the machines - i'll try and did out the correct command

Toby

Time to get reading I suppose then!

Remote Gpupdate, WOL and restart / shutdown | Specops Gpupdate .. ok it's a way to force it, but it will do it centrally at least .. got me out of a similar situation a bit back .. :)

Looks good but can't use it on our server due to not having access to the root domain forest user account.
