synaesthesia Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 I never did really like Iron Maiden or that sort of music however found there was absolutely no substitute for the soundtrack when running over peds/zombies, mashing opponents and pulling off Cunning Stunts. There's a patch for Carmageddon 2 to make it work on Vista (and 7) which is probably one of the better games. I remember buying the Max Pack with all the goodies when I was 17 (dastardly underage sellers!) - wow, was it that long ago?

synaesthesia Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 Not seen it for years I legally own Carmageddon 2 (and have the cd case and code but lost the CD) so found it through the usual naughty routes but can't say I've seen the originals for sale anywhere (have been looking!) Seen TDR2000 in a bargain bin a while ago though.

Arthur Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 (edited) 'Carmageddon: Reincarnation' seeks Kickstarter funding Carmageddon: Reincarnation, an independently developed revival of the violent automotive action franchise which was announced last year, is now seeking Kickstarter backing to complete development. Developer Stainless Games has been silent about the game's progress since announcing it last June. Today, the studio launched a one-month Kickstarter campaign to raise $400,000 to help payroll its 50 or so employees as they finish work on the title. Stainless, the developer of the original Carmageddon in 1997, acquired the rights for the title from Square Enix last year — a process which apparently cost the developer a large chunk of its starting capital. "We're a modest-sized indie developer," the Kickstarter description reads, "and we've already invested well over a third of a million dollars getting the rights back and beginning design and prototyping. This represents all of our profits from our other work — but we think it's worth it." The Kickstarter page promises the return of "everything that made the original games such a blast to play," with a few more modern additions, like better online multiplayer offerings, and ragdoll physics for the helpless, point-filled pedestrians players will be massacring. Also, if you feel like donating $1,000, you can be scanned into the game to become one of those pedestrians. The first playable build of the title will be available February 2013, and will be distributed to anyone who donates $15 or more.
