SCART Question

HI, I am trying to setup a system like this:

• DVD player outputs via scart
  
• This scart cable enters a scart switch with 2 scart connections
  
• 2 scart cables come out of the scart switch. Both go to a seperate TV.
  
• They DO NOT need to replicate the signal, as they won't show at the same time. Just want to be able to switch from one to the other.

I know that usually the single scart cable sticking out goes into a TV, but would it work the other way round?

Well it says bi-directional scart so possibly. iirc scart has some pins for one direction and some for the other, so in theory if all the pins are connected it should work. (Thats why you see some scart leads with only half the pins on.)

Should work, you might get a bit of signal degridation as it is not going to be the best quality bit of kit.

 

Does the DVD player have any other outputs such as component or s-video? Both woul give better quality than scart and reduce the need for a splitter/switcher.

DVD player is an old one- need to upgrade at some point!
