nas suggestion

hallo

I need to order a new nas for the university where I work (at the moment we have an openfiler box on consumer pc)

the nas should be rack mounted and will be used for videos/pictures/documents, backup and hopefully as a datastore for virtual machines

 

the budget I guess will be lower than low, anyway I'm taking a look to qnap and synology products like qnap ts-459U and synology RS810+

 

anyone have exprerience with them (or have to suggest another product)?

 

as regard disks...I guess I'll use western digital RE disks (500GB or 1TB) in raid5 to have at least 3TB storage

actually no...but when there will be the budget i guess i'll go with the qnap
