Snow Leopard 10.6.7 How to clone to another mac

We have some intel based macs running snow leopard 10.6.7. I have set up one mac with all the applications etc installed i now want to clone/ghost this mac to 20 other macs. What is the best way to do this ?

 

I have tried carbon copy and created the boot disk but when i restore the image the mac wont boot ?

 

I have tried firewire in transfer mode ( holding the T key down ) and copying over but the mac wont boot

 

Any ideas ?

Are you keeping the 'T' key pressed until you see the firewire logo on the screen?

Sorry misread your post.

 

When you have your 'gold' Mac setup in target mode, create a disk image of it by using Disk Utility on a firewire connected second Mac. With this image which you can clone the other Macs. How were you thinking of doing that?

I use DeployStudio to image Mac OS over the network

I used CCC to image our Macs and had no problems using this with the firewire target mode.
