Sanyo with pink sploges

Got a school full of Sanyo PLC xw56 three year old projectors, max lamp hours 2100 on eco mode, most of them have pink 'sploges' which are very noticable on a white background, word or smart notebook.

 

The filters have been cleaned every 4 weeks. Is it worth having the projectors serviced and deep cleansed, or struggle on for another year and replace the whole unit? Is there anything I can do myself?

Almost certainly dust on on the LED optics, despite the filters being cleaned. Cleaning the filters only ensures good airflow, it doesn't do much about preventing the very small amount of dust that inevitably makes its way inside.

 

A deep clean would probably fix it; to do it yourself you'd have to part-dismantle them. Possible, but tricky. I've done a couple of XE-31s before and it worked nicely, but it was not simple.

We have Sanyos like this. As they deteriorate to the point of becoming too poor to use or the bulb fails, they're being replaced with Casio LED bulbless projectors (5 year guarantee, no filters )

How old are the sanyos? I'm miffed mine are only 3 years old, strangely enough when I did the projector rounds today checking quality and lamp life none of the teachers had noticed the 'pinkness'.

Mine started to go around 3 years. After 5 even the teachers were complaining.

The "pink" is dust on the Optical engine, yes it needs a deep clean i do NOT recomend you atempt this yourself most people do not have a clean enough envioment, a deep clean and full rebuild costs £70, for this the projector is tested striped to the case all parts cleaned assembled and re tested checking light output befor and after and quality.

 

Most projectors should last around 7 years if serviced, if you leave this dust in it will create a hotspot and burn the eliments of the LCD optical engine.
