No security button on Dell Inspiron Duo

Since there's no security button, the only way we can unlock Windows 7 is by Ctrl+Alt+Del via the keyboard. Is there some clever hack/app/method we can use to get around this so we don't have to open the lid?

Personally I'd be tempted to just turn off the requirement for Ctrl+Alt+Del on those machines.

On Screen Keyboard?

It's specifically the lock screen that gives us trouble. With the initial log-on screen the on-screen keyboard works fine with Ctrl+Alt+Del, but the one on the lock screen doesn't. Only a slight annoyonce really, but since they can be used as tablets, they should have a security button - bit of a design flaw by Dell

 

We're also encrypting them with Compusec - it's taken 18 hours already with approximately another 4 to go before it's finished!

Eep, 18 hours, why not just use bitlocker, its quicker.

Apparently Bitlocker doesn't get on well with multiple users. I haven't looked at it myself, but it was decided that it didn't fit with our needs. We're hoping to use Sophos at some point in the future - once the global admin side is sorted out I believe.

Haven't heard that, seems to work alright on our staff laptops that can have one or more staff users logging on. Do you have any references for issues with bitlocker?

Not really. It was a while back when it was looked at by another colleague, and I can't remember the details.
