Dell Streak and PAYG

I'm looking to upgrade my phone and the Dell Streak has caught my eye. I already have a PAYG SIM with Vodafone on Free Weekends but they offer a deal where you top-up £10 a month and get 300 texts and 500MB data usage. As a light user, this is perfect compared to contracts.

 

Could I put a Vodafone PAYG SIM in a Dell Streak if I bought the unit and where do you recommend I go for buying one? Second hand I am cautious about as some phones are locked to a certain network.

I looked at one of these but it's more than I'm prepared to pay for a phone. A quick google netted this:

I went for the Orange San Franciso instead and unlocked & rooted it.

I got my second one direct from Dell as they had a special offer on at the time, but that time is past. AFAIK only O2 sell network locked units, so if you buy one that didn't come from O2, it should be unlocked. They are easy to tell apart when you use them because the O2 ones have a big O2 splash screen when you power them on.

 

If you want anything newer than Froyo you'll want to root it anyway.
