IT Systems Analyst - Hammersmith

Hi All,

 

We're now advertising for the post of IT Systems Analyst at my new school in Hammersmith, London. The academy is a brand new academy set to open in September, with the building being handed over at the start of June.

 

There's lots going on and as a new school you'd be joining a very small team of people at a very hectic time as we move on towards September.

 

Salary is up to 25k (although more may be available for exceptional candidates). More info and job packs etc can be found at Hammersmith Academy -

What sort of systems are being put in? Cisco? HP?

HP Servers, HP EVA 6400 storage, Cisco networking and IP phone system, VMWare virtualisation, Dell T3500 workstations, Apple iMacs for music/video edit and a whole raft of "creative media" stuff (tv studio, recording studios, radio studio etc)

What Cisco Core and Edge switches you gone for?

 

I know the Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series are quite popular as core's.

Cisco 3750's are our edge switches. We have a Cisco 4510R+E in the core.

My last school was Juniper EX4200's at the edge and two Juniper EX8208 in the core. Now that's a monster switch

Bleeding heck! (That is slightly moderated language!) If I had been drinking tea, I'd've spat it all over my screen! Those things are £30k+ a piece! My entire network infrastructure equipment cost less than that! Where did you work? The Super Rich School for the Super Rich???

We didn't pay that for them however . The entire Juniper solution cost less than Extreme, HP, 3Com and Cisco - .

Hammersmith is very expensive to live for those on 25k. Would have to be a tube commute job no?

Probably - I don't think any of the staff currently live in Hammersmith! I know I certainly don't
