I have a 3com 4400 switch that only half the ports are working properly on. Ports 1 -12 and 25 - 36 are giving me a read/write of about 60 Mbps while ports 13 - 24 and 37 - 48 are giving me a read/write of about 7 Mbps. Is their any way to improve the speed of the ports or is it time to replace the switch?

Time to replace. All teh ports should be giving you close to 100mbps, even my cheap desktop switch gives me around 95mbps

You could check that the ports affected are set for full duplex / 100mbps mode.

Failing that, 3COM Switches have a lifetime warranty and as they are part of HP simply give them a phone call (0800 096 3266), explain the problem and they will send you an advanced replacement next day.
