Pete10141748 Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Good luck, if you didn't get one on the day of release shortly after 5pm I doubt anywhere will have any stock for a good few weeks now. Personally I did get hold of one on day of release Wandered down into the town about 4.45pm, stood outside the shop (and only 3 more guys turned up to queue behind me), door opened at 5pm, went inside, was home by 6pm playing with my shiny new toy. Feel sorry for those who queued from 5am in placed like London!

broc Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I ordered an iPad 2, but then cancelled it 24 hours later after I became somewhat alarmed by widespread reports of wifi connectivity loss & screen 'bleed' issues. I still intend buying one once I am satisfied that these issues are resolved. I think I would rather wait than get involved in beta-testing products for Apple.
Pete10141748 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Have been using mine since 6pm on Friday, at least 5 hours each day for music, internet/email, games, camera/video recording, video call, drawing, (even did my census info on it! lol) and using it now to type this. It hasn't lost wifi connection once, and certainly no screen-bleed (yet), certainly don't think it's a 'beta test' scenario, just that with the amount of iPad2's out there already there are bound to be some faulty units just like any other product!

I think the wireless success may be related to what sort of router you have, some users report that disabling n support resolves the wireless issue, at least in the short term until Apple come up with a fix. The screen bleed issue is more problematic, enough users have reported the problem to make me a bit wary, especially when some users in the USA have reported replacing their iPad2s three or four times & still having problems. The bleed seems most evident when watching films or viewing screens with a dark background. If I could walk into a store, take one out of the box & check it before buying I would probably still buy one but nobody has them in stock now. At the moment I don't fancy the potential hassle of mail order returns if I got a bad one sent to me.

Pete10141748 Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Piece of advice, especially for the black model, get yourself a case/smart cover. Doesn't have to be the Apple one (although I have it and it is rather good) but just something to cover the screen when you are not using it, it attracts SO much dust and fingerprint marks. You can see them when you are using the pad, but when it's off it doesn't look very nice covered in swipe marks and dusty flecks......
