Not sure I can post them here?

Had a browse through them mind you can came accross:

Added support for Office 2010 32-bit

Where is the love for 64-bit? We still can't migrate everyone over as many staff are on new 64-bit systems.

Still so far behind the times it's unbelievable. I have to ask over and over again (and I did when I was employed by them) - how the hell are they still able to say they are "forward thinking" and looking to secure school's futures? They can't even get out of the past. Great example is FMS.

Even Microsoft are recommending that you stick with 32 bit Office 2010, they're treating it as something of a tech demo rather than a production ready program. You can't really blame Capita for that

Completely agree, not about SIMS, but FMS. When I was talking with someone about it they were suprised they were still able to update FMS when it's using Crystal Reports v4, BDE and Dephi and MSSQL2008. Death of FMS6 can't come fast enough. I look forward to no more BDE security, Delphi printing and general rubbish errors because it's using such old technology with new hardware and software.

Where are you looking? Doc ID 17642?

The pre-release note says Support for Office 2010 (32 and 64 bit) so I guess they've changed that?

Most addons do not work with Office 2010 64bit unfortunately. Had to alter my MDT image when it became apparent that even Microsoft say you should only install the 64 bit version in rare occasions for certain people who work with humongous Excel files for instance.

I'm not usually one for defending Capita's glacial support policy but they can't really be put down for not supporting the 64bit version of 2010. I realise it's a whole chicken and egg thing but virtually no one supports 64bit office properly, even Microsoft recommend you stick with 32bit for now. Unlike moving the base OS to 64bit, there's zero reasons why a school would need the feature set of the 64bit version of office at this time, other than providing a warm glow inside for us techs.

What's on the roadmap for FMS?

Cleansing fire, hopefully.

It makes Sage Instants look replete with useful working features and our finance dept die a little inside when they find a common reasonable expectation isn't supported in FMS.

I can only assume you're talking about the Pre release note because as SIMS Spring release hasn't been released yet, there's no release note.

OK got the download number for SupportNet users: 17642

Also of note, 64-bit Office 2010 support has appeared on the notes in the recent update. \o/

This pre-release note has been available for over a month and was lasted updated on 18th Feb so I am a little puzzled as to why this thread appeared on the date that it did ....

Gah! I didn't spot that on SupportNet (though I picked it up off a different feed anyway that published it for the first time a few days ago).

No worries CAM!

I have read the posts on the thread a number of times and was puzzled by both the timing and the content. At least your reservations about Office are now allayed.

But yes, does anyone have an ID of these release notes or a link?

The Beta is out. Couple of nice touches - Quick Search Toolbar and Progress Grid Entry.

I've heard a rumour that Capita might skip the next .Net version of FMS and move straight to Cloud.

Trusting your Financial data to the "cloud"? I think not.

However, I will party like it's 1999 when they retire they current version of FMS, as my biggest annoyance is dealing with cheque printing issues.

The plan (rumour) is that Capita will move Sims to cloud in 2015/16
