Buzzing/lag when audio is interrupted, Win7 Dell Optiplex 360

Morning

I'm getting totally stumped with this one and hope someone out there has any more ideas..

Whenever there is any stream of audio (Youtube/mp3/presentation embedded sound) interrupted before the clip has finished, there is a 3-4 second buzz of that particular millisecond of audio.. This only seems to be happening on certain machines despite the fact they're all the same model.

I can't see any differences in drivers or settings between the faultless and 'faulted' machines.

I managed to discover it's temporarily fixed by restarting Audiosrv but as soon as the machine is logged off (not even restarted) it's back to square one.

I've tried using updated drivers, rolling back drivers, deleting the entries for the card and multimedia controller to no avail as once the machine is logged out of that particular session the problem comes back.

I've also recently compared the audio codecs between 2 machines and they're identical..

It's bizarre problem for me as I'm not sure what else I can look at..

Any ideas?

Cheers :)

out of diagnosis, try reimaging/reloading from scratch to let you know whether its hardware failure?
