riffleman Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 (edited) Apologies if anyone has posted this anywhere else. I did a quick search and couldnt find anything, so.... We host our school website on the same server as we have the Frog VLE. The website is built with Frog and is totally integrated into it. For the last few months, we have been wanting to add links to various websites to the school website. Links are added in exactly the same way as any other editing is done with the Frog platform, through the inbuilt editing system. However, we have begun to experience an issue where any link we add to a page is automatically changed so that the link points back to the host server. So for example, if I were to put in a link for Google, the link is changed by the Frog server to http://www.frog.sch.uk/www.google.co.uk. This is also case we we bypass our ISA server and go directly to the Frog server. So, it then becomes http://frogserver/www.google.co.uk. The same happens with IP addresses too. This is beginning to become a bit of a sore issue between us and Frog as they don't seem to be able to resolve it. Has anyone else who is using Frog encountered this issue and if you have, have you found a way around it? I must add that links that we have had on the website still work as they should, it is only new links that seem to be causing the issue. Edited March 11, 2011 by riffleman Additional information
webman Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Have you tried including the http:// part, eg. http://www.google.co.uk
riffleman Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 Yes, all the links have had http or https as well as without. The Frog server just renames it with whatever the address was that you accessed it from.
john316 Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 When I go to the 'Insert Link', 'Internet Page' and I delete the http:// and just type Google then I will see a similar sort of broken link. If I leave the pre-filled in http:// and then just add Google after it then the link is absolutely fine.
sjatkn Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I am sorry to say I get the same as john316, that is everything works as expected. If I create a page with a text and pictures brick in it and then add links, the links are correct if I put BBC - Homepage. If I remove the BBC - Homepage I get http://vle.server-fqdn/www.bbc.co.uk. Does it make any difference if you use the toolkit or from inside the VLE?
