Will this work? DHCP filter

I've just added the MAC address of 3 PCs to the "deny" filter within DHCP to deny them DHCP services.

 

What i want to do is stop these PCs from being able to connect to the network in any way shape or form without having to do anything on the specific PCs or the switch they're connected to (they aren't added to the domain, just random PCs that have been plugged in to recieve an IP and get to he internet)

 

Will that work? i've never used the DHCP filter facility before.

should do as long as users dont give it a manual ip

We use this exact method to block phones, non-school provided laptops etc from getting addresses. There's no reason the device cannot have a manual address entered, but for the most part this works.

We use this too at our place, however over the summer we'll be looking at implementing NAP.

Interesting you say this - we've just finished setting up 802.1x backing onto 2008 R2's NAP on our WiFi. Works an absolute treat. Just have to move 2000 or so remaining computers across to the new SSIDs.
