beeswax Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 We have a course in the ICT section of our Moodle shared between three teachers and several groups of pupils. A teacher has deleted 80 graded assignments and you can imagine how they feel. I run a database backup overnight, but restoring this would cause as many problems as it cures. Is there any way to restore these 80 assignments, with all the marking? Is there any way to prevent this from happening in the future?
budgester Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Have you looked at the individual course backups ?
FN-GM Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Hiya, It can be done. If you restore the backup database to a new instance with a new name. Then restore the files to another directory. Point the new files to the new database. Access the new install then export the assignments and reimport them to your current Moodle system. Give us a bell if you want to talk more.. Z
beeswax Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 Sorry for the delay in getting back. I couldn't restore from course backup as backups had stopped operating back in January of this year, and this event was post January. This seems to have come about due to a series of external power failures causing the Cron job to fail at some point, despite being set to start automatically in Services. Re-installing and reconfiguring this seems to have restored the back up process. The full database was being backed up correctly, but due to illness and work I never got round to restoring this way.
