notalot Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 3 weeks ago we had a call come in, saying that an Epson S5 projector was projecting the wrong colours, we changed out the lamp, cables, factory reset, a different laptop, cleaning the projectors prisms but to no avail. So the user was given a different projector, within a week the same problem has occurred on the newer projector. The problem happens on 2 different brands of laptop. Has anyone encountered anything like this before or has any idea what I can try?
elsiegee40 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Have you tried the failing projectors in a room where there hasn't been a problem? The only thing I can think of is cabling coming loose or being damaged somewhere along it's run between projector and PC. 1
notalot Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 Its a standalone projector (not mounted), with a VGA, and I've changed that out. Thanks for the thought tho
CESIL Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Are the two projectors the same brand/model? If so then perhaps they have just developed the same fault...could just be coincidence or maybe power fluctuations or some other environmental effect in that room have damaged the electronics? Apart from that it sounds really weird to me... 1
notalot Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 Same brand of projector, but different models, Both Epson. We were thinking the same sort of thing (but to do with the VGA port on the laptop causing the damage to the projector somehow). How would you go about proving that.
Ulkary Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 It could be one of the LCDs in the projector is damaged, this will give the impression that one of the colors is missing. If you project a red, green then blue image what are the results you get? 1
laserblazer Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I think my next step would to be to try it on a desktop computer so it's not sharing the vga output. 1
notalot Posted March 7, 2011 Author Posted March 7, 2011 Ulkary - It would be a very strange coincidence that both projectors failed with the same fault on 2 different models but the same make, yet it is possible laserblazer - Can try that once I get it down here, just preping a different laptop and projector for the staff member
