2097 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Got a bit of a problem here . We have 4 USB printers for the art department they have 11 laptops on a domain , running XP i installed all the printer software but if they decide to shove the printer in a diff port that i didnt use to install the printer on it asks for it to be installed again with the admin username and password . Whats the easiest way to sort this ? Many thanks Luke
localzuk Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Easiest fix would be to network the printers using something like. this TP-Link TL-PS110U Single USB2.0 Port Fast Ethernet Print Server: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories Your not so easy fix would be to plug the laptop in to all ports as an admin one after the other, so all the setup side is done before the users log in.
Michael Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 I agree with the above, as properly networking them will mean they're hosted on your server and shared out to all laptops. It also reduces problems as staff have no need to keep swapping cables.
