ricki Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 HI Please can anyone help. We have been having a few machines that appear to have had ie8 broken recently and it will open but will not get onto the internet for anyone and we have had to reinstall ie8 to get it to work. I have checked the proxy settings and they are in but ie in well and truely broken. Has anyone else had this problem. Richard
Michael Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 It can happen. Generally speaking where possible it's recommended to re-image the whole machine. Various toolbars can break IE8, but most of the time it's missing or unregistered DLLs which are usually the source of the problem.
ricki Posted March 10, 2011 Author Posted March 10, 2011 HI Michael We have started ghosting machines as suggested but if anyone has a quicker method please could you let me know. Richard
sven Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 As Michael said, these things tend to happen and you'll waste more of your time time trying to figure it out when imaging the machine will take you less time and gives you a nice clean slate. I think he's hit the nail on the head.
Chunks_ Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I find resetting Internet explorer to its default settings can sometimes fix issues in i.e etc. But to be honest prob best to reinstall the computer if u have the image 1
