MkII Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Please help block this... Our kids are now personalising the Google home page and adding games widgets © So far we've been unsuccessful in blocking this. 'http://www.google.co.uk/ig?hl=en' is the URL to the personalised page
Geoff Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 A lot of the widgets appear to come from the 'googlepages.com' domain. Blocking that cleans it up a lot here. Of course, blocking 'google.co.uk/ig' also works.
Jake Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Ah yeah, we had the exact same thing here, they would go to the personalised section and add in game widgets and sit and play those. We just added *.google.co.uk/ig* and *.google.co.uk/ig?hl=en to our ISA server blocklist and that blocked it. This of course then resulted in the kids going to google.de and google.nz and every other countries google pages so that they could go to the games section. So we blocked all the different localisations of google too We no longer have a problem with it
Disease Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 And the thing to remember is if you block google personalised HP you will have to add a scipt to logon to delete the google cookie everytime a user logs on or they will never get back onto google normal page.
MkII Posted February 27, 2007 Author Posted February 27, 2007 The LEA have now worked it out with your help thanks. Those kids with customised pages can no longer access Google home, but as we have a Google search on our sch splash page it's not a problem (no cookies to delete!! )
