Windows 7 SP1 Sysprep but no sound

Hi all,

 

Wonder if anyone has seen this after a clean install of Windows 7 32bit with SP1 (clean install WITH SP1 from the VL Centre) where after a sysprep the audio device just stop working (see attached).

 

I've only tried this install once so I guess something plain odd could have happened but if anyone else has seen this and has a solution I'd love to know what it is!

 

Have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling device, then disenabled digital sig enforcement and uninstalling AV all of which didn't help a bit.

 

I'm going to remake the image in a short while (however I would prefer not to with the sheer volume of software on it) so will see how that turns out.

Persisting Plug and Play Device Drivers During generalize

You can persist device drivers when you run the sysprep command with the /generalize option by specifying the PersistAllDeviceInstalls setting in the Microsoft-Windows-PnPSysprep component. During the specialize configuration pass, Plug and Play scans the computer for devices and installs device drivers for the detected devices. By default, these device drivers are removed from the system when you generalize the system. If you set PersistAllDeviceInstalls to true in an answer file, Sysprep will not remove the detected device drivers. For more information, see the Unattended Windows Setup Reference (Unattend.chm).

It certinly wasn't any driver problem as I simply could not get any drivers to install - my thinking is something just got mucked up with the Win7 installation.

 

Either way problem solved by creating a new image.

Interestingly enough I know of someone who installed Windows 7 SP1 through Windows Update and it disabled their gfx card. One rollback later and everything was fine.

 

They downloaded the full version and it installed fine.

Yeah I think there's quite a few problems going around with Win 7 Sp1 updates - the USB one has already been hilighted (had that problem on my home PC).

This being a clean install with sp1 right from the vlsc was just weird though
