Hi there,

 

We have been asked to take part in a compo against another school.

 

I have access to a dedicated server and have setup Trackmania etc and all worked well when offsite. ie: from home. Also, the chaps from the other school can access it fine.

 

However, in school I get the following error when trying to access the game:

 

Could not connect to server.

Connection to xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:2350 failed or disconnected from server (10060)

 

I know port 2350 is used for this game and this has been allowed on the smoothwall box. Smoothwall then goes through ISA. There is a rule on the ISA that basically says any traffic from the Smoothie in any port, allow.

 

Anyone any ideas?

Firewall blocking that port?

My local BitDefender firewall has a rule to allow port 2350 TCP & UDP traffic.

try "telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xx 2350"

in command prompt and see what it returns, if you get a response it should technically work.

 

also google shows you may need the following unblocked:

 

Application: TRCKMAIF External port: 2350 Internal port: 2350 Protocol: TCP/UDP

 

Application: TRCKMAF1 External port: 3450 Internal port: 3450 Protocol: TCP

 

Application: TRCKMAF2 External port: 5000 Internal port: 5000 Protocol: TCP

 

Application: TRCKMAF3 External port: 1096 Internal port: 1096 Protocol: UDP

 

Application: TRCKMAF4 External port: 1099 Internal port: 1099 Protocol: UDP

Why hasn't it tried port 2350 like I specified?

think you need to replace the : with a space when you specify a port in telnet.

I have also added the above mention ports to the Firewall.

Does your county filter your internet aswell? everything may be ok within the school, however many schools also use a firewall at county level, this may be what is blocking the required port.

Nah, our connection is: MY_PC ---> SMOOTHIE ---> ISA ---> WWW (BT Leased line)

switch off your local firewall briefly to make sure it's not something just with your machine/software, windows firewall is a bugger for this sort of thing.

 

also test can you connect to that IP on other ports, or just a problem with that port?
