Excel problem

Hi Peeps,

 

I am pulling my hair out here so help would be gratefully received.

I am using Excel 2010 and creating a bar chart but the date range keeps defaulting to 1900 to 2168 or thereabouts.

 

I have checked the cell with the dates in and formatted them to date format but it doesn't help.

Here it is, I have tried this in two versions of Excel and it does it in both, probably my fault then!

I want the data for the duration showing only, I can remove the start bar by hiding them but can't stop the data range from being so long. I have also tried setting the date range for the axis but it doesn't work.

Yes, that sort of thing, I am trying again in Office 2003 as it is less fiddly. Just got to the point where I select the duration in the series tab and it screws up the date again!
