imiddleton25 Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I have been asked to look at a website for local community group they want the page to extend to same margin that is on the left but i cant seam to see were that is css.txt so have attached the css in case one of you experts care to take a look. for a preview of the problem see York Guitar Festival thanks
rush_tech Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Hi the wrapper div is centred at the moment the problem you have is the wrapper div is 968px wide and the site is 768px. Obviously i can't test it out but try changing the width of that wrapper div to 768px (the content div is also 968px might need to change that aswell) and change the css of the wrapper div to - margin-left: auto ; margin-right: auto ; That should centre the site in the browser
imiddleton25 Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 ok thats centered it but they want the margin like it was before but on both sides a narrow margin
CESIL Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 to do that you will have to resize some of the graphics...the bar across the top for example is physically sized at 768px so it won't fit a wider layout... The whole css layout is based on a fixed width with 2 columns inside...if you make the main div wider then thw columns will have to grow too.
rush_tech Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) ok thats centered it but they want the margin like it was before but on both sides a narrow margin I suppose it depends on what size monitor your viewing the site on, to how big the margins are, as Cesil says if you want to make the site wider you going to need to alter some of the graphics to the new wide *Edit the footer width also needs adjusting Edited February 13, 2011 by rush_tech
CESIL Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 To have the page size itself to the screen size of a visitor you will need to substantially redesign the css so that the graphics are split up with the edges fixed and the central part stretching to match the screen width.
