featured_spectre Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 4 minutes to build a computer? I can completely strip one down and rebuild it in about that so I should enter!
Butters Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I was going to say 4 minutes seems a bit too long in my estimates. Sure I could do it in less.
sonofsanta Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I watched that video and it seemed to suffer from the same syndrome as Jamie's 30 Minutes Meals - that is, you can claim any ridiculous time span if that's the only time span you measure*. Having everything laid out like that, ready to slot in, with a pre-installed HDD, is hardly building a PC. Impressive in its own context but no relation to the real world whatsoever! *constant amusement to be had from each episode starting with "get your 30 minute meals head on" which seems to translate to "make sure you've already done all the time consuming preparation, peeling, slicing and chopping everything so all you're actually doing is watch it all get hot now"
tech_guy Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 They need to try and do it thus; phone in one hand listening to a whingeing parent going on about how nasty you are because you blocked their little Johnny from using the Internet because he kept typing rude words in to Google, and using the other hand to assemble the parts whilst being nagged by a teacher because they need a projector setting up now for an assembly......... Now that is real skill!
mattx Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Did anyone spot a Anti-Static Wrist Strap ? Not that I wear one - never have, never will !!
JPS Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Did anyone spot a Anti-Static Wrist Strap ? Not that I wear one - never have, never will !! What is with them? I have never bothered either but I guess it just means I am taking a bit of a gamble with the components i'm installing. I figured the 'pro's' would always use them?
synaesthesia Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 They must have picked the entrants from the streets or even worse, PC World. I built 2 today in 5 minutes - properly, too.
