Does anyone know if the tabs in task manager can be hidden? The Head of ICT has requested access to task manager so the students can shutdown non responsive apps so all i want the students to be able to access is the Applications Tab.

Thanks

Why does it matter? If they see the processes tab then they could attempt to kill a process but unless they started it running they'll just get access denied.

If you have Netsupport or Lanschool you can stop it working in the Process tab.

I'm sure you can stop things working but WHY???

I know that there are some things users can do which can mess up the machine but what can they do by seeing a list of running processes??

To ask the obvious question, why allow the students access to task manager? Just block it entirely for the students and allow for the staff via GPO?

Well they want students to be able to kill unresponsive programs

I see your points and to be honest i just wanted to see if it could be done. Im going to see if there any other task killing utilities out there that can do what Task manager can do. At least then the powers at be will be happy!

Ive actually now found something that might do the job:

taskkill /f /fi "status eq not responding"

Create a shortcut from this and put it in the students startmenu and ill see if this does what they need to do
